My name is Yza (ee-zah). I’m a Registered Social Worker and Counselling Therapist.
I moved from the Philippines to Canada at 15, growing up with Filipino values while embracing Canadian diversity. I see my dual cultural background as a privilege, allowing me to bridge gaps between generations of immigrants in our community.
I earned my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Interdisciplinary Health in 2020, where I studied the Social Determinants of Health, and completed my Bachelor of Social Work in 2022. I earned my Master of Social Work in 2024 which allows me to work as a Therapist.
I specialize in supporting Immigrant and Indigenous individuals who have experienced intergenerational trauma, neglect, and physical, emotional, or sexual abuse. I have worked with people diagnosed with ADHD, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. I apply tailored approaches based on age, needs, and backgrounds, always focusing on empowering individuals to make positive changes.
As a Christian, I offer counseling based on Biblical principles for those who share similar values.
In some cultures, including my own, therapy and counseling may be viewed as taboo, unnecessary, or a sign of weakness. If you share this perspective, let’s work together to break that stigma. Therapy can be incredibly beneficial, and I’m here to offer a safe, culturally sensitive space where you can truly be yourself.
When you are ready to book a consult or your first session, you can schedule an appointment online or you can contact me at (204) 881-8128. Thank you!
